PORT SERIES REPORT NO. 20

PORTS OF NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA
(Revised 2002)

The Navigation Data Center, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, announces the availability of Port Series Report No. 20. The report comprises a total of 315 facilities, 80 are situated on the left bank, and 68 on the right bank of the Mississippi River within the parishes of St. Bernard, Orleans (City of New Orleans), and Jefferson. Twenty-nine are found on the Inner Harbor Navigation (Industrial) Canal; five on the Mississippi River-Gulf Outlet Seaway Canal; one in Michoud Harbor; 11 on Michoud Canal; one on Bayou Sauvage; one on Bayou Bienvenue; two on Bourros Pit; 71 on the Harvey Canal; 30 on the Algiers Canal; four on Bayou Barataria; six on Bayou Bonfuca; and one on the Tchefuncta River; four are located on the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain, and one is at Port Manchac. It supersedes a similar report published in 1990.

Port Series Report No. 20A, Mississippi River Ports Below and Above New Orleans is slated for publication by year's end, with distribution in early 2003. Port Series Report No. 21, Ports of Baton Rouge and Lake Charles, Louisiana, comprising 260 facilities, was published earlier in 2002. Several other recently published reports on the western Gulf Coast are also available for purchase (see Ordering Guide on reverse)

Port Series Reports delineate the Nation's principal coastal, Great Lakes, and inland port and waterway terminal and transfer facilities. The publications, produced under authority of law, are intended to meet the needs of Federal, State, and municipal agencies; port and waterway development authorities; and others concerned with the utilization and improvement of existing terminals, and the planning and development of new ones.

Facility descriptions include details of berthing accommodations, petroleum and bulk handling, intermodal transfer, handling equipment, grain elevators, transit sheds, warehouses, repair plants, and other elements associated with port and waterway operations. The locations of the described facilities are depicted on five aerial photographic maps of the waterfront area.

Port Series Report No. 20 may be purchased for $38.00 (see Ordering Guide). Publications are mailed postpaid (4th Class Mail) on the same day that order is received, unless a prepaid alternate delivery method is specified.
